“Acqua”, sindaci agrigentini in commissione all’Ars

I sindaci di Sambuca di Sicilia, Menfi e Sciacca in Commissione Attività produttive. Sollecitati interventi a rimedio della crisi idrica nell’agricoltura.

I sindaci agrigentini di Sambuca di Sicilia, Menfi e Sciacca sono stati in audizione innanzi alla commissione Attività produttive dell’Assemblea Regionale, presieduta da Gaspare Vitrano. E hanno invocato interventi urgenti a fronte della grave carenza di acqua nel lago Arancio, indispensabile per le coltivazioni dei produttori agricoli di un ampio comprensorio, dalla costa all’entroterra montano. Nell’invaso attualmente vi sono appena 8 milioni di metri cubi di acqua. Nello stesso periodo dello scorso anno ve ne sono stati quasi il doppio. Sono risorse insufficienti per il fabbisogno. Sindaci e rappresentanti di categoria hanno sollecitato la Commissione ad adoperarsi per la sospensione dei ruoli di pagamento dell’acqua e della bonifica, nella prospettiva della siccità e della crisi che ne conseguirà. Inoltre è stato rivendicato un sistema di sollevamento per adduzione, per recuperare quanta più acqua possibile dai fiumi Belice e Carboj, anziché buttarla a mare. Inoltre, hanno pressato affinchè sia concretizzato un progetto già redatto dal Consorzio di bonifica della Sicilia occidentale per il riuso a scopi irrigui delle acque depurate dall’impianto di depurazione di Sciacca. L’incontro è stato organizzato dal capogruppo del Partito Democratico all’Assemblea Regionale, Michele Catanzaro, di Sciacca, e componente della commissione Attività produttive, che afferma: “La crisi irrigua sta mettendo in ginocchio l’agricoltura nel versante occidentale dell’Agrigentino. Presenterò un emendamento per sospendere i canoni irrigui del 2025, e ho anche chiesto al Consorzio di bonifica l’avvio immediato di tutte le verifiche tecniche necessarie per valutare la fattibilità degli interventi richiesti dai produttori agricoli”.
