“Oro bianco”: nove condanne in Cassazione

Mafia e droga a Palma di Montechiaro: la Cassazione sentenzia nove condanne nell’ambito dell’inchiesta “Oro bianco”.

La Cassazione ha rigettato i ricorsi della difesa, e ha confermato, rendendola definitiva, la sentenza emessa il 6 giugno del 2024 dalla Corte d’Appello di Palermo, presieduta da Vittorio Anania, che ha inflitto complessivamente quasi un secolo di carcere a nove imputati di essere parte di un “paracco” mafioso di Palma di Montechiaro.

All’alba del 13 gennaio del 2021 hanno imperversato i Carabinieri del Comando provinciale di Agrigento coordinati dalla Procura antimafia di Palermo. Oltre 200 militari sono stati impegnati nell’operazione antimafia “Oro bianco”. I provvedimenti giudiziari eseguiti sono stati complessivamente 35, tra cui 12 misure cautelari in carcere, e 23 avvisi di garanzia. Il reato contestato è il 416 bis, l’associazione a delinquere di stampo mafioso. In uno dei capi di imputazione si legge: “Gli indagati si sarebbero avvalsi della forza di intimidazione del vincolo associativo, e delle condizioni di assoggettamento ed omertà che ne derivano, per commettere gravi delitti, acquisire la gestione o il controllo di attività economiche, di concessioni, di autorizzazioni, di appalti e servizi pubblici e procurare voti eleggendo propri rappresentanti in occasione delle consultazioni elettorali”. E tra gli inquisiti sono emersi tra gli altri il palmese Rosario Pace, a capo del presunto omonimo clan stiddaro e cugino di Domenico Pace, 56 anni, tra i killer del giudice Rosario Livatino, ed il consigliere comunale di Palma di Montechiaro, Salvatore Montalto, poi deceduto in carcere il 17 gennaio del 2023 in carcere a Cagliari. Le indagini sono state avviate a Palermo dove è stato intercettato un ingente traffico di droga gestito insieme alle famiglie mafiose agrigentine, ed in particolare alla famiglia del “Paese del Gattopardo”. Carabinieri e magistrati si sono avvalsi anche delle dichiarazioni del collaboratore di giustizia di Favara, Giuseppe Quaranta.
