In Sicilia lunedì a scuola con don Pino Puglisi

Lunedì prossimo 15 settembre ricorre l’anniversario dell’omicidio di don Pino Puglisi ed è il primo giorno di scuola. L’assessore Turano invita ad una riflessione.

In occasione del 32esimo anniversario dell’omicidio per mano mafiosa del beato Giuseppe “Pino” Puglisi, che ricorre il 15 settembre e che quest’anno coincide con l’avvio del nuovo anno scolastico in Sicilia, l’assessorato regionale dell’Istruzione e della formazione professionale ha inviato una circolare a tutte le scuole di ogni ordine e grado, invitandole a dedicare un momento di riflessione alla memoria del sacerdote di frontiera ucciso nel 1993, nel quartiere Brancaccio a Palermo: un gesto simbolico ma significativo, per rafforzare tra i più giovani la cultura della legalità, della responsabilità e dell’impegno civile. E l’assessore Mimmo Turano spiega: “L’anno scolastico si aprirà quest’anno nel ricordo di don Pino Puglisi per onorarne l’impegno civile e trasmettere alle nuove generazioni l’eredità morale che ci ha lasciato. Da sacerdote di frontiera ed educatore, don Pino ha compiuto una scelta precisa, stando accanto ai ragazzi del quartiere Brancaccio a Palermo, per sottrarli alla strada grazie al Centro di accoglienza Padre Nostro, da lui fondato. Con il suo esempio luminoso, ha restituito speranza laddove regnava la rassegnazione, offrendo alternative alla violenza e insegnando che anche un piccolo gesto può fare la differenza. La sua testimonianza di fede, coraggio e dedizione rappresenta ancora oggi un potente modello pedagogico-educativo e uno strumento di cambiamento sociale e culturale da preservare, perché, come ci ha insegnato ‘se ognuno fa qualcosa, allora si può fare molto’ per costruire una società più giusta, consapevole e, soprattutto, libera dal ricatto mafioso.”
