Mai segni di riverenza durante le processioni nei confronti di indiziati o condannati di mafia

PALERMO – “Si è tenuta innanzi al tribunale di Termini Imerese, presieduto da Vittorio Alcamo, la prima udienza a carico del sindaco di Cerda e deputato regionale Salvo Geraci. Su richiesta dell’avvocato Vincenzo Lo Re, difensore di Geraci, il Tribunale ha preliminarmente dichiarato non doversi procedere perché il fatto non è più previsto dalla legge come reato in relazione a tre capi di imputazione per abuso in atti d’ufficio contestati al sindaco, anche in concorso con funzionari comunali. È stato poi sentito il principale teste d’accusa del sindaco, il comandante dei Vigili urbani di Cerda Giuseppe Biondolillo, che ha ribadito di avere subito pressioni dal sindaco per scrivere al Questore che aveva comunicato la modifica del percorso della processione del Venerdì Santo del 2022, per evitare che la stessa passasse in prossimità dell’abitazione di un soggetto agli arresti domiciliari. Ma ha confermato che non si ricordano nella storia della processione segni di riverenza nei confronti di alcun indiziato o condannato di mafia. Rispondendo alle domande dell’avvocato Lo Re, Biondolillo ha riconosciuto che il sindaco motivava la sua richiesta di mantenimento del percorso per ragioni di tradizione cinquantennale e perché il luogo in cui avveniva l’incontro delle statue portate in processione, era la piazza principale del paese, idonea ad accogliere migliaia di fedeli, idonea anche a garantire i requisiti di sicurezza. Biondolillo ha poi negato l’esistenza di ragioni di contrapposizione personale o politica con il sindaco ed in particolare di avere partecipato a manifestazioni elettorale a favore di candidati avversari di Geraci, ma a questo punto la difesa ha prodotto la foto di una manifestazione elettorale del 2018 in cui Biondolillo interveniva a favore dell’avversario di Geraci, cioè per il candidato Mario Cappadonia.
